Furness Education Trust Pumpkin Competition
During this term, Furness Education Trust ran a pumpkin competition open to students and staff from all schools in the Trust. Students from Yarlside, Parkside, Victoria and Furness Academies have been sending in their carved pumpkin photos for judging.
There were prizes for winners in each Key Stage, 1 to 4, a prize for the best staff pumpkin and an overall Premiere Pumpkin Prize Winner.
Students from as young as reception, right through to Year 11 have sent their designs in to be entered into the competition. The carved designs have ranged from the classic Jack O’Lantern style, to designs inspired by popular TV shows like stranger things, to incredible Harry Potter themed painted pumpkins.
Mrs Larcombe, who ran the competition, said, “We had over 60 pumpkin designs entered into our competition from students in each school in our trust. I am really pleased the students, and staff, embraced the Halloween spirit and created some incredible designs. The pumpkins entered are all very creative and it has been brilliant to have another activity that we can involve all our Trust schools in”.
Simon Laheney, CEO of Furness Education Trust said, “The quality of pumpkins entered this year has been impressive and made my job as judge much harder. The fact the competition has extended across our Trust this year for the first time has provided a lot more entries for us and showed us the creativity that exists in each of our schools. Thank you to everyone who has entered, it has been great looking at all your designs”.
